Horácio Piriquito resigns after an exchange of e-mails was revealed between FPF’s [Portuguese Football Federation] Fiscal Council and Pedro Guerra. He was sending confidential FPF documents.
Horácio Piriquito announced on his Facebook page his resignation with the following statement:
“Following the news that has come to the public today and which, as a member of the Fiscal Council of the Portuguese Football Federation, links me to commentator Pedro Guerra, I clarify the following:
- I have been friends with Pedro Guerra for more than 20 years, and we were colleagues during the times when I was a journalist. We exchange regular e-mails, for friendship or following my occasional participation in debate panels on BTV [Benfica’s Television Channel], or Pedro on the channels in which he collaborates; “
Another interesting point is that Pedro Guerra defends the current direction of the FPF. It would scarcely be that he did not defend himself, after having in his possession the personal SMS of the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, any kind of blackmail is possible to do for Benfica and Pedro Guerra, with that kind of information.
No, Mr. Piriquito you did not resign because of this but because you knew that you broke the law.
Hóracio Piriquito finished the statement with the following sentence:
To defend my good name, honor, and image, I will appeal to the judicial authorities for a complete replacement of the truth, taking into account the facts that are attributed to me.
This whole situation shows that octopus tentacles are everywhere.
