The Portuguese Association of Football Referees reacted to the accusations made by Franciso J. Marques on June 7, 2017.
We can not find the entire statement on the internet (it is probably already deleted).
Here are some excerpts from the statement:
“we will submit a complaint of the declarations in order to prove their veracity”.
“The statements made are serious and should be analyzed and investigated from their veracity to intentionality, for the sake of the transparency of our football”
“If there is any veracity in the serious accusations made, for the sake of football, this data should be presented to the competent authorities, PJ [Police Judiciary] and MP [Public Minister]. If it is just for fun, then we condemn and penalize these behaviours once and for all, enough of ‘crushing’ the referees, it is incalculable the damage of these behaviours for football and referees formation”
“The APAF [Portuguese Association of Football Referees] and the referees are available as they have always been to assist in the proceedings that the competent authorities deem appropriate. But do not count on us for this circus ”
The statement was written by Luciano Gonçalves, President of APAF.
